The Focus ST seems to be priced slightly lower than the GTI in the used car market. I like both cars and am having a hard time deciding between the two. I like the Focus ST because of the Recaro seats and the nice sounding exhaust.
Itis one of the last truly bad cars. Reliability is so-so, but the worst part is the extremely crappy interior. You would do so much better with a 2010+ Corolla or Civic, which are nicer and more reliable. If you don't want repairs get a Toyota. Ihave a Focus ST, my roommate has a GTI manual and one of my close friends has the GTI DSG. The GTI DSG is probably the fastest car in a straight line because the DSG is that good. IMO, the GTI also has a better interior, if I had to pick between them. The aftermarket for the GTIs is also a lot bigger than what's available in the Focus ST.
Whenyour infotainment system doesn't work half the time, sub par awd system. If turbo fails not only costly to fix, doesn't have power to get out of its own way after that. Engine failure, co2 leaks into the cabin, typical Ford paint problems, exterior parts randomly falling off.
